Markus Quante studied environmental technology and meteorology with emphasis on atmospheric chemistry. As an expert in airborne turbulence measurements and cloud remote sensing Markus Quante was involved in organizing and managing international cloud research campaigns. Markus Quante was member of the international science team, advising the CloudSat research satellite mission of NASA and Colorado State University.

Currently he is working in the field of chemistry transport modelling and coordinated over the last years an international initiative conducting a climate change assessment for the entire North Sea region (NOSCCA). Latest projects are devoted to ship emissions and air quality in harbour cities.

Among other services he is an active member of the Advisory Committee for the "European Research Course on Atmospheres" of the University Grenoble Alpes, France. At the University of Lüneburg, Germany, Markus Quante taught over many years courses on urban meteorology and environmental meteorology. Currently he is teaching courses on climate physics, global change modelling and transport of matter in the environment.
