NUST MISIS has also entered the ARWU-2018 Ranking and the TOP-100 of the ARWU Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in two directions: Metallurgical Engineering and Mining & Mineral Engineering.

About Rakoch:
professor
More than 230 publications (including 4 monographs), more than 85 in the last 5 years, 7 patents in PEO area
Scientific supervisor of 24 PhD students (for the last 5 years-7), more than 175 engineers, masters, bachelors.

About Gladkova:
young researcher, associate professor
2 monographs, more than 65 publications, 3 patents and 7 know-how in PEO area.

About PEO MISiS group:

The theoretical bases of plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) of light alloys by MISiS are identified. It
includes:
- the mechanism of ignition not only anodic, but also cathodic plasma micro-charges on the surface of
the working electrode;
- growth mechanism of coatings and formation of high-temperature modification of aluminum oxide in the coatings during PEO treatment in electrolytes containing small amount of components;
- condition, which must be followed to obtain thick (more 150 microns) wear-resistant anticorrosive coatings on aluminum alloys;
-explanation of the difference between growth mechanisms of coatings on aluminum and magnesium alloys by various electrical regimes of PEO process.
- Novel non - destructive method to control the properties of oxide coatings formed by PEO has been developed.
