FPS URB-RCC Side Event at ICRC-CORDEX

ICRC-FPS-URB-RCC Conference (group picture)

27 September 2023

During the ICRC-CORDEX conference in Trieste (Italy), a successful FPS URB-RCC side-meeting was held on Wednesday evening 27 September 2023. The side-event was particularly targeted at the FPS URB-RCC partners and around 20 people attended the meeting. The latest FPS URB-RCC progress and on-going activities were discussed. The meeting touched upon the working groups that analyse the existing data from CORDEX-CORE and CP-RCM simulations, as well as the protocol and initial results of the STAGE-0 test simulations for Paris. As the FPS URB-RCC is merely an online endeavour, it was an excellent opportunity for FPS members to engage in-person.

3rd FPS URB-RCC meeting

24 & 25 November 2022, virtual

Short description:
The third FPS URB-RCC meeting brought together the project partners to discuss the progress of the FPS project. During the meeting the working groups that analyse existing datasets (CPRCM & CORDEX-CORE) provided updates on their work. The meeting discussed the coordinated experiment protocol in detail. Furthermore, new EU projects were presented that are aligned with the FPS goals and aims.

2nd FPS URB-RCC meeting

13 & 14 January, virtual

Short description:
The second FPS URB-RCC meeting brought together the project partners to discuss the first draft of the coordinated experiment protocol, and the city selection criteria for the coordinated experiment. Furthermore, various science topics relevant to the main aims of the FPS were discussed that will be analysed based on existing data in the coming period.

FPS URB-RCC Kick-off Workshop

FPS URB-RCC Kick-off Workshop Flyer

19-21 May 2021, virtual

Short description:
Over 50 participants from across the globe participated in the three-day event. The workshop was focused on getting to know the partners, sharing the science conducted within the different groups, and primarily discussed the initial steps of the first phase of the project. The latter aims to 1) gain an overview on the different urban parameterizations, models, and urban studies from the different partners; 2) conduct research on urban areas under climate change using existing simulations, primarily stemming from the CORDEX activities, and; 3) to draft a protocol for the coordinated simulations.
