The UBA (www.umweltbundesamt.de) is Germany's central environmental authority. UBA's tasks include the timely recognition and assessment of possible adverse effects of climate change on humans and the environment as well as the development of potential solutions. To this end, UBA conducts in-house research and provides decision-relevant knowledge for politics and society. The Competence Center Climate Impacts and Adaptation (KomPass) at UBA has been supporting the formulation, implementation and further development of the national adaptation strategy to climate change (DAS) with expert and environmental policy advice since 2006. UBA contributes its extraordinary expertise in the following areas to the project:

  1. Conception and implementation of inter- and transdisciplinary research projects
  2. Processing of expertise on regional climate change, climate impacts and adaptation regarding risk assessment and derivation as well as evaluation of possible adaptation requirements and capacities, resilience research
  3. Knowledge transfer to decision makers in politics, economy and administration as well as networking of actors
  4. Information and sensitization of affected stakeholders and the public
  5. Compilation and evaluation of adaptation projects, adaptation options and measures
  6.
